Scheduling

Hello again! I just remembered that I had another question to ask of you ladies. What does your library schedule look like? What I mean is do you meet with all of your classes once a week for a scheduled library time and check out? Or, do you separate library time from check out time and have two separate times each week? Or, do you have completely flexibly scheduling? If you have a flexible schedule, how do you manage that? How do you get teachers to come in and sign up for times? Right now, my schedule is not working so I am brainstorming to try to come up with a better way to do it! Any thoughts?

I would like a flexible schedule, but there is no way the teachers would comply as their schedule is set in stone at the beginning of the year.

I meet w/ each class for 45 minutes once each week. This includes lessons and check out times. I then meet w/ each student, split into smaller groups, for a 'reading group' once every other week.

Check out is open to everyone throughout the day, I have strict rules for the students to follow so that they don't disturb us when lessons are in session.

HTH. Let me know what you come up w/ as far as new scheduling goes.

I have a great schedule. I meet with each class for 30 minutes 15 to 20 minute lesson-10-15 minute check out. The classes are all set up on Tues and Thurs. Monday, Wednesday and Fridays are open check-out. Students can come and go all day. I love it!!! I can actually get something done on M, W, and F. Tues and Thurs are really busy but so far I really like the schedule. This was my principals idea- he is really big into AR and he wanted the library as open for check out as possible. I also have a volunteer that comes in on Tues and Thurs so help at the check out desk.
