My First Book Fair

Well I just set up my first book fair. Can I just say HOLLY SHIT!!! I did not realize what an undertaking this would be. There is sooooo much shit to put out. I have to have the book fair in my library so needless to say there is limited space, yet the pile of boxes was going on forever!! But here is the part I wanted to share with all my book buddies! At the KASL conference yesterday I was chatting with fellow librarains and one suggested having Scholastic send you two empty crates with your bookfair to put all the boxed books in. GREAT idea just a little late for me this time around.
Also at the conference I ran into Shirley, Katie, and Megan and this poor poor girl who is just starting the SLIM program. Oh what a road she has ahead. :)

I used to get the empty cases when I had to switch schools in the afternoons; that way I could lock the cases w/o locking the library.

I just closed my bookfair on Friday. Made a little over $3000...whoop whoop! That's the most I have ever managed to get in.

I did use the table displays and such this year, only because I have the room.

Good luck!

That was my practicum project last year. It really is fun to see the kids get so excited. Do you have parent volunteers? Did you go to the training? Have fun!

Wow Laura! I've done three bookfairs at my daughter's school and the most we have ever made was $1,900. Congrats! Let us know if you need help spending all that mullllaaaah!

Yep, I was ECSTATIC w/ the amount the fair generated. I already have a list of books ready to order for FREE! heehee And some of the money will be put into the library account for my library. Whoop whoop!

I really don't know what worked this time. I show the author videos, send a note/flyer home, and hang signs. I figured I wouldn't beat last year's amount since it was held during conferences but I blew that figure out of the water!
